A 12" Fully Rugged 2-in-1 Detachable Tablet
Telrepco is pleased to announce that last week Panasonic announced the official release of the Panasonic Toughbook 33, the first 12" Fully Rugged 2-in-1 Tablet. The Toughbook 33 features a 3:2 aspect ratio, which is especially important with regards to vehicle mounting; vehicles are limited for space, and we often hear that the popular 16:9 aspect ratio for tablets is too wide for vehicle mounting which can cause unsafe conditions. Also, many applications are not designed for a 16:9 aspect ratio, which can have a negative impact of the ease of use of these applications.
Another notable addition to the Toughbook 33 is an IR camera which works with Windows Hello to provide an easy and reliable method of authentication. Multi factor authentication is becoming increasingly important, and with good reason. Security is of utmost importance to Public Safety agencies, so having the IR camera as a standard feature alleviates the need to choose integrated options or third party solutions to achieve multi factor authentication.
To help current Toughbook 31 users easily transition to the Toughbook 33, Panasonic has created a vehicle dock adapter for the Toughbook 31 dock, allowing Toughbook 31 users to simply swap their existing computer out and install the Toughbook 33 without the need to replace the entire dock and mounting solution. This both allows for faster equipment upgrades while providing a cost effective solution by eliminating the cost of a new dock and related installation costs.
Another simple yet important change to the Toughbook 33 is the backlit keyboard. After doing some research, Panasonic determined that one of the biggest complaints about previous backlit keyboards is that the white color light can be distracting in low light situations. To combat this, the backlit keyboard on the Toughbook 33 is red, allowing users to easily see the keys in low light situations, without being distracted by a bright white LED.
